Villa Verde
Historical District Map, Information and Homes
For Sale
Villa
Verde Historic District boundaries are roughly: Monte
Vista to Granada Road, 19th Avenue to 20th Avenues.
Villa
Verde Historic District is a compact neighborhood
consisting of of English Cottage homes. Each one of
these artsy cottages is very unique, mixing
architectural details resuting in adorable, cozy homes
which may be built of clinker bricks, stone, river rock
or even a simple wood frame.
The roof may be
gabled or clipped, the chimney may or may not be
prominent just like the front porches.
Like most
English Cottages,
Villa Verde homes are on the small side.
Usually with 2 bedrooms & 1 bath, they average about 900
square feet, give or take. Chances are great that you’ll
find original hardwood floors with a cozy, indoor
fireplace.
The Arizona State Fairgrounds border
Villa Verde east of 19th Avenue. Since 1905
the fair has been an attraction. The homes in Villa
Verde were built and designed generally between 1928 and
1945 by Frank Wallace.
Grand Avenue cuts
north and this area is becoming its own, unique arts
district. The freight trains still run along Grand
several times daily with their very loud but historic
horns sounding which can be heard throughout the area.
Many consider this very romantic. It’s
currently one of the most affordable historic districts
in Phoenix, and most of these homes still have all their
original character intact.
